Jay Cook State Park
We are very excited to announce that legendary local biologist, author and general outdoor enthusiast Larry Weber has agreed to guide a Wild Ones (www.wildones.org) spring wildflower walk. Everyone is welcome to join us and is sure to learn something new.
NOTE: because the swinging bridge is still out of commission, we will NOT meet at the main park HQ buildings. We will access a trail by meeting at the east end (a dead end) of Leimer Road, which goes east off of Hwy 1 about a mile south of Carlton.
From Duluth, take Hwy 35 south. At the Scanlon exit go south (left) on Hwy 45 to Carlton. Continue straight through Carlton (ignoring signs saying to go left on 210 to get to the state park) and head toward Wrenshall on a road called Hwy 1 and Main St. on Mapquest. The road swings to the east for about a mile. Shortly after it turns south again turn left onto Leimer Rd.
If you would like to carpool from Duluth send us an email.
PLEASE BE SURE ANY VEHICLES PARKED ON THE ROAD HAVE A STATE PARK STICKER.
FEE: there is no fee other than the park vehicle sticker. If you have not already joined Wild Ones: Native Plants, Natural Landscapes, however, please consider doing so. Your membership helps support programs like this and many outreach and education efforts.
