Heather Wright Wendel's yard

Join us for an evening of exploring with members of Wild Ones, strolling through yards in East Duluth and Old North Shore Drive.

Meet at Heather Wright Wendel’s yard (2132 E. 5th St.)

“Small urban yard that has flower beds and a small garden from the previous homeowner (we have been in the house less than 1 year).  We have added a couple of trees and a rain garden but otherwise are using this first year to see what is growing around the yard.”

Directions:  From I-35, take exit 258 (21st Ave. E/UMD). Take 21st Ave E. up to E. 5th St and turn right.  We are on the corner of 22nd Ave. and 5th St (near Old Main Park).

After 30 minutes of walking & talking, drive to Nan and Ken Greshowak’s yard (8723 Congdon Blvd)

“Natural setting of large pines and forest with fenced in areas of raspberries, blueberries, grapes, apples and currents. Small deep bed vegetable garden, native perennial plantings, nursery perennials from the past and rain garden. An assortment of deer, bear, moose, bobcat and skunks for the adventurous gardener! A move from hot and dry Fergus Falls 6 yrs ago starting a new adventure in moss, fog and wet gardening!

Directions: Take London Rd towards Brighton Beach.  Follow Old North Shore Drive or Congdon Blvd exactly 3 miles. It’s the 4th house after the Inn on Gitchee Gumee.

Carpooling optional.  No rain date scheduled as this time.

PLANT SALE – Common Milkweed grown locally by Boreal Natives: six-pack for $7.05 (includes tax) Available at the yard tour.
